Travel is my life. (And so are these guys, of course.)
A little about me as a travel advisor and what makes me special:
I worked for years as the director of Weddings by Funjet and as the director of strategic marketing for the entire Mark Travel portfolio (now Hyatt/Apple Leisure Vacations) which included Funjet Vacations, United Vacations, Southwest Vacations and others. So, I KNOW travel and have extensive personal relationships throughout the industry. I also KNOW romance travel - from intimate and extra-special honeymoons to massive destination weddings… I just get it.
One of my key specialties in multi-generational travel and travel with families. My most recent multi-generational trip involved three countries with five completely different itineraries for ten different people with different flight plans and different excursions each day for each person. I excel at creating smooth plans for everyone to have the time of their life and to focus on spending quality family time together rather than worrying about the details.
I know how to marry the ‘must-have’ activities in any destination with the fun hidden or unique finds. My “books of fun” are a guide to EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know and my concierge travel planning is an available service that truly makes a trip brainless - just enjoyable.
I have personally been to dozens of countries and counting - and travel is truly my deepest love (besides my son and husband). I have loads of first hand knowledge of popular destinations, and I have a huge network of friends and colleagues to draw upon as well. Many of my favorites are in European travel (just ask me about how much I love Scotland!) and Mexico/Caribbean travel, but I’ve also done a lot of work in USA travel and even Asian travel.
Though Bulb & Canvas is a relatively new venture, I have been working in (from a corporate/strategic side) and planning travel for years - this is not my first rodeo. I’ve got you.
A little about me as a person:
I’m Kristin. I’m mom to an amazing four-year-old son and wife to an awesome non-travel-obsessed engineer. I am a proud Midwestern girl, but my heart is always in my last destination… or my next (and it’s always a little bit in Scotland). Personally, I am not a budget traveler but I’m not exactly a luxury traveler either. I like to get the absolute most out of any trip without leaving experiences on the table or spending money I don’t need to.
When I’m home, I can usually be found playing with my son, reading, rewatching a stupid rom com, bingeing HGTV, eating something delicious or cooking something hopefully as delicious, hanging out with my family, painting, or just curled up on the couch planning my next trip (seriously… I do this $^!* for fun).
My late mother introduced me to my love for travel and the arts and the beauty surrounding us, and my father (a former European history teacher) taught me how important it was to see the world in order to fully understand it. Travel is my life because it combines all of my passions, allows me to soar through new experiences, and grounds me as the person I want to be.
I worked in corporate marketing (hospitality and f&b, travel, theatre, real estate, start-ups…) for almost twenty years and have chosen to make travel my full-time career as it fits my life today. My son Liam just started 4K this year and though I want to always be flexible to his needs, being a travel advisor allows me to follow my passion into a new and fruitful career path as well. Talk about a pivot!
